The Threat Demons Pose—Don’t Underestimate Them

It has been painful to see the unbelievable act of violence that a mother committed against her own children. News channels have been consumed with the Lindsey Clancy trial, and with it, many perspectives have been tossed out as to how a mother could commit the most grievous crime possible against her own flesh and blood: killing her three small children by strangling them one after the other. And then attempting to commit suicide by slitting her wrists and jumping from her bedroom window.

Jesus wants you to know how such a horrific tragedy could happen… especially since no one at the trial has talked about it.

Jesus said this unspeakable crime is a “classic case of advanced possession.”

Jesus said Clancy was suffering from both manic depressive disorder (bipolar) and severe postpartum depression. True. And her severe level of mental illness caused her to have psychotic episodes at times—even before she committed this atrocious crime.

But, Clancy also had a much more serious problem than untreated mental illness: she was in an advanced state of possession by Satan, and other demons.

Clancy did hear voices telling her to hurt and kill her children, and herself. True. The voices were not hers; they were the demons who had taken her over and were controlling her.

Jesus wants you to learn that in almost every act of violence, the reality is that demons are the ones ultimately behind the offense. They can control people and influence their minds and actions to cause harm.

Demons are on a mission. They live to destroy what God loves the most—us, His children—as an act of revenge to hurt Him. This spiritual battle has been going on between God and Satan since the beginning of time.

The presence of Satan and his demons was the real reason Clancy acted so evil. They influenced her mind, emotions, and body to commit this diabolical act of murdering her own.

Demons have another agenda. They work relentlessly to try to get people to commit violence and murder against one another because they know God will punish them severely, and delay or forbid Heaven to them. Satan knows murder is a mortal sin and that God does not forgive this crime easily. Demons are trying to get people in trouble with Creator so they end up suffering in hell with Satan, and not flourishing in Heaven with God.

Clancy’s untreated mental illness was the secondary reason behind her violence. Her mental illness weakened her to their nagging, destructive thoughts and words. Their presence and influence in her mind and body were really what got her to commit this abhorrent crime against her children, and herself.

This is what demons are capable of. And this is why the world should have a greater understanding and acceptance of the threat that demons pose for mankind—so you deal with and treat possession when it happens, and better yet, do the work to protect yourself from getting possessed in the first place.

Jesus also said, “murder is murder and should be treated as murder.”

There should be no exceptions for her violent behavior, not for her mental illness or possession. Please pray for Clancy; she will need much help when she faces God on her judgment day.
